Technology-based education is the key for the future of our deaf children at Sam's Place.  It provides our children with essential tools for learning, and it also provides them with essential skills to communicate with both the deaf and hearing worlds.  Over a decade and a half, Sam's Place has created a world class technology program in the far western bush country of Kenya.  

Technology in Kenya is still in its infancy, however, Sam's Place is leading the way as technology-based education is the cornerstone in delivering important curriculum to our children.  Technology is also the connection to the Bible and God's plan for these deaf children of Africa.

Hearing Schools in Kenya begin basic computer training in Grade 9.  Sam’s Place begins as soon as the child arrives.  Sam’s Place focuses on Technology as a way for our children to excel where the hearing do not; thus increasing their job opportunities and exposure to higher level employment. Technology also provides the tools to continue developing as a person throughout their adult lives.  Technology can be a window to their future--if the curriculum and the technology footprint is sustained and supported throughout their growing up years at Sam's Place.

Our teachers use their laptops for lesson preparation and visual learning, which is important to teaching the deaf and exposing our deaf children to the world of science, history, math, and opens up a extraordinary tapestry of art, folklore, and life values for the growing child.

Our teacher laptops have reached their end of life and are unable to access needed materials, run programs, and run on battery power. Many are over eight years old.  Help us provide the laptop replacements for our teachers.  This replacement program is an essential step in continuing to deliver the technology-based curriculum to our children.
