Another Little Girl

A new girl, Sandra found her home at Sam’s place. Sandra is 7 years old.

When little Joshua, Beckham, and Justus saw that it was another girl, they complained to Simeon that he is “oppressing” the boys, because all of the new children have been girls. They are ready for another new boy to play with!

We are so excited to welcome Sandra into the Sam’s Place family!

New Curriculum

After a short break, learning resumed on October 12th, 2021. A new system of education has been introduced in Kenya, called CBC (Competency-Based Curriculum). Several workshops have been held near Rongo, and we sent our teachers to be trained over the new system.

Part of the new system is learning about agriculture. You can see the fourth grade students and teachers working in the garden at Sam’s Place.

Transition Students

Irene, Ruth and Hesbon have completed their training at St. Joseph’s, and they have now found places where they are apprenticing. Irene is in Homabay, and Hesbon is in Nyakeyo, a small city in the Kisii County, and Ruth is in Rongo Opapo, another city in Homabay County.

Dickson and Elphas are already working as apprentices in their new trade. In addition to building furniture, their mentor is also training them in construction. Their mentor recognizes that Dickson and Elphas are good and serious workers and takes them with them on every job.

Naomi, Janet, and Emmaculate are continuing their studies at St. Joseph’s.
